We discovered that this portion of the River is colder than any other stretch, and while Coho and Steelhead spawning occurs above and below this stretch, the portion of the River on this property actually serves as a nursery for the Coho and Steelhead.
Recognizing the significance of this delicate habitat, we concluded it would be unlikely that we could obtain landowner rights to fish this stretch of the River within our investment holding period, even with our restoration and conservation efforts fully in place. We and The Nature Conservancy subsequently determined that the Conservancy would be the most appropriate longer term owner and steward of the ranch, and thus a sale to the Conservancy was agreed upon.
